1. Half-toning - Also called Dithering, this is the process of the printer blending the inks or toner of eight primary colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, red, green, blue, and "no color") to produce the 16.7 million shades of a color gamut.
2. Handshaking - An exchange of initiating information between hardware devices to set the standard and protocols for data transfer.
3. Hanging indent - A style where the initial line of a paragraph is left aligned with successive lines indented by an equal amount. Also called outdenting, this is often used to display lists where the information is rather lengthy compared to a simple bulleted list.

8. Horizontal Motion Index - HMI - The definition of the distance between columns, specifically, .008 of an inch per increment. With fixed pitch fonts, the HMI affects all characters and symbols, whereas with proportional fonts, only the space character is affected.
9. Hue - The term which describes the entire range of colours of the visible spectrum, determined by the wavelength of light, which specifies the color in use. A gradated hue produces the effect of a rainbow.
