1. Landscape - A orientation such that the width is greater than the height. By selecting landscape mode the same paper is used but the resultant image is rotated to suit.

2. Laser - A device that produces a beam of coherent single-wavelength light waves.

3. Laser Printing - A printing process that produces very high quality text and graphics, both monochrome and color, at fast speeds. A laser is used to scan an image onto a metal drum thus charging the drum electro-statically. Powdered ink is then attracted to the charge and transferred to paper using heat and pressure. This process is used in Laser Printers, Copiers and Facsimiles.

4. Laser Toner - A powdered ink used in laser printing technology.

5. LCD - Acronym for Liquid Crystal Display, a visual display device found in many busines and consumer products these days where the characters and images are formed when varying electrical charges are applied to the individual cells in the display.

6. Leading - Pronounced - ledding, the space added between lines of text. Condensed leading makes the lines closer together and so harder to read, whereas loose leading increases the space between lines making the text easier to read. The term originates from the lead spacers used by printers to space out successive lines in the hot lead printing system, now obselete.

7. LED Printer - A printer that uses LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) as its light source instead of a laser, thus reducing moving parts and energy requirements. LED printers use the latest technology and are capable of producing "laser-quality" results.

8. Legal - A paper size used in the United States and Canada for legal documents, measuring 8.5 x 14 inches.

9. Letter - A standard American and Canadian paper size, measuring 8.5 x 11 inches, used for standard letters.

10. Letter Space - The space between letters.

11. Light Emitting Diode - (LED) An electronic component that emits light when activated by an electrical current.

12. Line Printer - A type of printer where the entire line of characters are printed as one unit.

13. Lines Per Inch - (LPI) The number of lines printer per vertical inch, usually 6 or 8. Also known as Line Spacing

14. Local Area Network - (LAN) A series of computer interconnected by cables and hubs to provide access for sharing information, files, and/or peripherals such as printers.

15. Local Printer - A printer attached directly to a client computer. In some networks, a printer attached to a local node is also referred to as a local printer.
